SHOOTING

WE DECIDED TO GO SHOOTING AS A FAMILY OUT BEHIND THE LAKE AND SHOT ALL OF OUR GUNS THAT WE HAD AMMO FOR.  WE FOUND A TON OF CLAY PIGEONS SO WE WERE THROWING THEM FOR OTHERS TO SHOOT.  DEFINITELY A FUN THING TO DO AND EVERYONE SHOT VERY WELL.
SABRINA SHOOTING THE 22 PISTOL MY DAD GAVE ME A FEW YEARS AGO, IT'S FUNNY HOW MUCH ENJOYMENT YOU CAN GET FROM BLOWING STUFF UP.
THEN ALL HELL BROKE LOOSE!  MOST OF THESE GUNS WERE FROM MY DAD AND OLD BUT WE SPENT HOURS CLEANING AND OILING THEM BEFORE WE WENT OUT.  ONE OF THE SHOTGUNS KEPT JAMMING AND SO C.C. TOOK IT APART AND FIXED IT BUT A PIECE HAD BROKEN OFF ON THE BOTTOM AND HE FIRED IT A FEW TIMES AND IT WAS FINE.  THEN HE PUT IN A SLUG AND FIRED IT AND HE YELLED OUT AND WE ALL LOOKED TO SEE WHAT HAD HAPPENED.  WE THOUGHT IT JUST KICKED REALLY HARD AND CAME BACK INTO HIS CHEST UNEXPECTEDLY.  BUT AFTER HE TOOK OFF HIS SHIRT WE SAW THIS!  TRAVIS OPENED IT UP AND IT WAS AT LEAST AN INCH DEEP.  SO WE ALL QUICKLY LOADED UP AND HEADED DOWN THE ROAD....FAST.  C.C. WAS GOING INTO SHOCK AND HE WAS PUTTING PRESSURE ON IT.  TRAVIS CALLED 911 AND WE MET THE AMBULANCE A FEW MILES DOWN THE ROAD.  THEY CHECKED HIM OUT AND FOUND ANOTHER SMALL PUNCTURE WOUND IN HIS ABDOMEN AND CHOOSE TO CALL THE LIFE FLIGHT IN.  WHAT?  WE WERE ALL FREAKING OUT!  WE HAD NO IDEA WHAT WAS IN HIS CHEST, BULLET OR BROKEN RIBS OR PUNCTURED LUNG, WE HAD NO IDEA AT THIS POINT.

OFF TO THE AIR MED AND OFF TO UNIVERSITY OF UTAH FOR FURTHER EXAMINATION.
OFF HE GOES FOR A $13,000 FLIGHT.
THIS IS THE GUN AFTER ALL WAS DONE.  BASICALLY WHAT HAPPENED WAS THE BARREL WAS A CHOKED BARREL AND WOULDN'T ALLOW THE SLUG TO GO OUT SO THE SHEER PRESSURE OF IT BLEW BACK OUT THE BOTTOM THE GUN WHERE THE PIECE WAS BROKEN OFF AND THE OUTSIDE OF THE SHELL SHREAD AND BLEW BACK INTO C.C.'S CHEST.  NOT TEARING HIS SHIRT AT ALL BUT TEARING A HUGE HOLE IN HIS CHEST.  THERE WAS NO PIECES OF THE BULLET IN HIS CHEST THANKFULLY BUT HE ENDED UP WITH 7 STITCHES AND ALL SUPERFICIAL WOUNDS.  WHEW!  WHAT A RELIEF THAT HE WAS GOING TO BE OK.  WE SHUTTERED AT THE THOUGHT OF IT BEING ANYONE ELSE BESIDES TRAVIS OR C.C. SINCE THEY ARE THE ONLY ONES THAT COULD HAVE TAKEN THAT KIND OF INJURY.  NEEDLESS TO SAY WE ARE THINKING OF BUYING A NEW GUN INSTEAD OF USING THE OLD ONES THAT MY DAD PASSED ON.  MY BROTHER LATER TOLD ME THAT MY DAD HAD THAT GUN ON HIS WALL FOR 10 PLUS YEARS AND NEVER FIRED IT, IT WAS A SHOW PIECE TO GO WITH A FEW OTHERS.  WOW, WE ARE FEELING VERY LUCKY AND WE ALL HAD A MELTDOWN THAT DAY OF THE THOUGHT OF LOOSING C.C. RIGHT IN FRONT OF US.
